let’s be real here - so far most of the latin america players have been from mexico and central america (mostly hispanic/latino). it’s been easy for af-am to play the race card when it comes to them because they speak a different color and have ligher skin/different features. but once the island is cuba is opened up after years of communist reign, it will have a domino effect on the carribean islands (much like the collapse of the soviet union has a domino effect on europe and the NHL - most of the players are now from europe since the USSR fell) and a MAJORITY of people in the carribean are BLACK SPANISH-SPEAKING PEOPLE. so once cuba is opened up and many black cubans start to play in the MLB (much like europeans started to play in the NHL after the USSR), will af-am be able to take it that people of the same color skin speak a different language? interesting to see if they can play the race card and the black cubans can blend.

blacks and latinos living in peace, speaking in the same language…….we could learn a thing or two from the cuban people
english isn’t really a “black” language anyway, they were forced to learn it by the white englishmen who enslaved them…..and the englishmen were sucessful at devoiding their language heritage. many af-am don’t even know there are blacks in the carribean……..a lot of them, especially in cuba. i would like them to try to play the race card.
